Name (including aliases as appropriate):
Max Engelhardt, Illuminati Agent Designation "Vashere"
Age/Gender:
29/M
Position Desired:
R&I
Relevant Skills:
Spreadsheets, shotguns and style.
Relevant Background Information:
Previous Education/Employment:
BA Economics/Business Management, University of Oxford (3 years)
Junior Executive Pathway, QBL Media (9 months)
Trend Analyst, Blackstone Group (15 months)
MBA, Harvard Business School (2 years)
Competitive Intelligence Analyst, Fuld & Company (2 years)
Corporate Intelligence Exp. Associate, PWC (18 months)
-- Illuminati Induction --
Aspen & Dudek Consulting (short-lived Illuminati troubleshooting firm) (1 month)
Freelance Consulting Work (to present)
Born to a wealthy family, owners of a relatively large media empire, Max always had the mixed combination of innumerable open doors and the firm expectation that he would only go through very specific ones. Sent abroad for his education, upon his return he was fast-tracked into an executive program at QBL. He started drifting from the purely managerial path, moving into market trend analysis at another company after a relatively short stint, but it was only after gaining his MBA (it's surprisingly easy to make it into Harvard when countless generations of your family have plaques, benches and sports equipment standing there in their honour) and landing his position at Fuld&Co that he found his professional feet in the world of Competitive Intelligence.
He tread the thin line between professional intelligence-gathering and insider-trading for over three years, and then - boom - magic bees. In retrospect, with a masonic knight for a father and family history rumoured to include at least one relative involved with the Bilderberg group, it wasn't any particular surprise that the Illuminati were the first to his door after his magical awakening, and since then: Exciting adventures.
Relatively important note: He didn't do anything questionable during his time working for Orochi (or, at least, nothing questionable within the spectrum of executive decisions), but of course since his postings with the Illuminati he's discovered that he was working for the closest thing the world really has to "the bad guys" (specifically, discovered while doing a little digging while in Kingsmouth). Naturally, he is aware that he'd be a fabulous weak link if Orochi tracked him back to the Illuminati, but through either luck or general Labyrinth network security, he hasn't had any close calls yet.

((OOC section))
1. How much experience do you have with roleplaying? Have you played other MMORPGs? There's no wrong answer here.
I've played pen and paper RPGs for over 10 years now, and I dabbled with RP on various MUDs throughout that time. MMOs I've played include WoW, Eve, AoC, GW, GW2, LotRO, Warhammer Online, Global Agenda and probably a few that I've forgotten. Where possible, I always make characters on RP servers, but I haven't actually done that much RP within any of them (but my characters are always made with some sort of internal consistency, even if nobody ever gets to see that except me). Sometimes I'm a bit mute, as Shay and Stuckey saw last night, let's put that down to nerves and inexperience and hope I'll ease up once I'm more relaxed.
2. What has brought your character to the group? Do you have any stories/ideas that you hope to develop for them as they progress through the game, and if so, what are they?
It's rarely what you know, it's who you know. Although rolling as a solo agent of the Illuminati is fun, Max is confident that being part of a global subsidiary of Eye-Triangle Ltd will allow him more leverage and room to maneuver to become a player rather than the played.
I suspect I'll start out, and probably remain for a while until I become more comfortable, relatively passive in storylines - more of a warm body for ideas to bounce off. Once I find my sea-legs, as it were, I think a fun stepping off point would be his stint at QBL Media (that's an Orochi company - orochi-group.com/?action=companies).
3a. Fill in the blank: If my character were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, he/she would probably __________.
Past experience suggests "shoot it, and hide behind rocks when it turns a bit blue", but with a heaping spoonful of "double-check he's not actually in a club toilet doing some manner of hallucinogenic".
3b. Fill in the blank: If I were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, I would probably __________.
If the literature's anything to go by, I guess I'd have my sanity shattered and then die horribly along with 1D4-1 other investigators.
4. How did you find out about us, and how would you like for us to contact you in-game?
TSW forums Arcadia cabal list. Tells are preferred.
5. Have you ever wanted a chance to just say whatever you'd like to about yourself to a group of anonymous strangers over the internet? If so, here's your chance!
I would, but I have to return some videotapes right now.
