Online Employment Application:
Thank you for your interest in joining the team at AEgir Incorporated,a group of dedicated professionals specializing in extraordinary situations.
To ensure prompt processing of your application, please answer the following questions:
Name (including aliases as appropriate): Clarence "Eldritch" Wilde
Age/Gender: 27, male
Relevant Skills:
-Fairly handy with a shotgun or rifle in that "spray the area with bullets and hope it hits something" sort of way.
-Extremely competent violinist, his music has a variety of interesting arcane effects. Depending on how its directed it may be utilized in an offensive or defensive capacity.
-He's been known to dreamwalk at times.
Relevant Background Information:
(Author's note: this is a little rough around the edges, but it's got all the important details!)
Clarence Wilde's life started out fairly normal. Born in a rural town around the turn of the century, raised by his mother, he had a remarkably mundane childhood which lead up to an equally mundane adulthood. He attended university and graduated with a degree in musical theory. Fresh out of the dorms, with his degree in hand, Clarence set about finding a job.
Luckily for him, there was a hotel in Arkham looking for a musician for dinner-time entertainment. Despite the fact that he had specialized in saxophones and not violins, beggars couldn't be choosers and he happily signed up. Things seemed to be going awesomely for Clarence at first: the job paid well, the hotel clerk Linda was rather attractive, and he got to do what he loved. What else could he ask for?
But upon settling in to his room at the hotel, he noticed something odd. Waiting for him in the room was some sheet music that appeared to be from his mother...Whom he had lost contact with during his college years. That perplexed him, but it was a rather nice melody, and so he played it for the dinner guests.
Unbeknownst to him, the sheet music he found was a spell that held back a dark entity; by playing it he let it free. Later that evening it confronted Clarence and Linda; a mind-bending horror that reached out of misty corners with sharpened piano wire. Clarence barely survived the encounter, and having miraculously sent the creature back from whence it came, collapsed into a catatonic state due to the mental strain.
At this point, he is found by locals and shipped off to the local asylum when it becomes apparent that he is not coming out of his coma, though is otherwise healthy.
While in a coma in reality, Clarence began his journey into the dream world.
Upon coming to in the room that the otherworldly battle had occurred in, Clarence found that not only was it soaked in blood but also Linda was no where to be found. Accosted by the local authorities he was put on trial for a murder that had taken place at the hotel, and then shipped off to the asylum. At the asylum, he was plagued by dreams and nightmares and quickly lost his ability to differentiate between what was real and what was dream.
During one particularly bad night, Clarence found himself confronted with an immense stairway. Met with the keeper of the gate he was offered passage into the Dreamlands. Between the option of going back to his padded cell or following the stairs downwards, he opted for the latter. This lead him on a rather long trail of breadcrumbs, trying to find out his heritage and his fate. Which was full of surprises, to say the least. Through his exploration of the dream lands, he discovered that his father was one of the lesser pantheon that surrounded Azathoh; one of the pipers, and thus his connection to music...While his mother was human, though a very active dreamer. These traits combined lead him to his path of enlightenment within the dreamland; his father having disguised himself as a dream king to goad his son on to accepting his destiny.
Meanwhile, during all this time, Clarence has been in a coma back in reality. It was quite the shock to wake up in an Illuminati laboratory nearly a century later. The fact that he had slept for so long without aging was something of high interest to the society. When he finally did awake, a horribly bewildered and disorientated Clarence was easily recruited into the Illuminati. He had potential, and they wanted to see how useful he could be.
Contact Information: Clarence is rather poor with modern technology and really prefers typewriters to computers...but due to necessity, he's manages to fumble with a cellphone every now and then.
Next-of-Kin (optional): Next of kin, well...There's his therapist.

Please take a minute to look over our Rules And Tone page--there's not a lot of rules, but if you're part of the group, you'll be expected to follow the few rules that we've got while you're representing us with the group's handle.
To help us get a feel for who you are and what you'd like to get out of being part of the group, please answer the following questions:
1. How much experience do you have with roleplaying? Have you played other MMORPGs? There's no wrong answer here.
I've been roleplaying since I was twelve, in various formats, from AOL chat rooms to tabletop. Fun note: Clarence is a Call of Cthulhu tabletop character of mine that I had so much fun with I adapted him to online roleplay! *g* I've played many MMOs, but did most of my roleplaying in City of Heroes/Villains on the Virtue server and DC Univers on the Virtue and Vice server. Other little random tidbits you may wish to know about me: Hi, I'm Kami, I'm 24, and I'm married to a fellow roleplayer (who I'll probably drag into here if all goes well!)
2. What has brought your character to the group? Do you have any stories/ideas that you hope to develop for them as they progress through the game, and if so, what are they?
Character-wise, Clarence is looking for something to keep himself busy and distract him from...well...everything, really! OOC wise, I like the concept of the group, it's less militaristic than some of the cabals I've seen and when I read the line "Arcane Specialists
Finger wagglers, ...crazy hippes Masters of the arcane and scholars of eldritch secrets, these are our crazies *sighs* seekers of the unexplainable." I went "that's so Clarence!" and so, here I am.
3a. Fill in the blank: If my character were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, he would probably fail his SAN check and get nommed. Poor Clarence. ;_;
3b. Fill in the blank: If I were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, I would probably try to run and end up dying tired because I am not in good enough shape to avoid being fangoriously devoured. >_>
4. How did you find out about us, and how would you like for us to contact you in-game? I found you in the listing for RP cabals on the TSW forums! Also, I have "Eldritch" reserved from my pre-order, so Clarence will indeed be running around as Clarence "Eldritch" Wilde. :3 So that's the way to get ahold of me come launch!
5. Have you ever wanted a chance to just say whatever you'd like to about yourself to a group of anonymous strangers over the internet? If so, here's your chance!
Not really...but...hey, I'll use this a sort of misc. notes area. I realize that Clarence is sort of unorthodox in the fact that he kind-of sort-of ignores the whole origin story the game opens with for all characters. But I do hope you'll still consider him!
A little extra info on him can be found over at Miskatonic U.:

Thank you for taking the time to read/evaluate my application! If anything's too vague or you have any questions, I'm happy to clarify! Also, I think I got everything...but if I missed something, let me know. My power decided to go out in the middle of me typing this. ;-; but I think I salvaged it!
