I think this will make the most sense to all of you if I work backwards:
On Sunday, Geary fired me. She abruptly ceased her argument with Senator Cicero when I set foot in headquarters and then, with a surprising hesitation, told me I was no longer needed as an in-house politician or anywhere else among their ranks. Since, I’ve returned most of my triangle paraphernalia but I have kept some as keepsakes, still only just coming to terms with my Illuminati break-up.
At this point you’re probably asking: So… you’re dead meat? The simple answer is no. The longer answer requires another step back.
On New Years of this year I developed a relationship with someone I considered entirely human; a specialist in the trade of rare artifacts and intelligence. I began to work under him, utilizing my contacts to gather confidential information. On occasion I crossed paths with a dark entity-- a Shade with human attributes—whom my employer claimed was his boss. I learned this otherworldly entity had sway over many, indiscriminate of faction or rank. Without warning, my employer disappeared, and I lost my sole means of communication with him. I was aware that the repercussions for leaving this organization were, such are the Illuminati’s, fatal.
This is not the first time I’ve escaped death. Before I politicked for the Illuminati, I was a field agent. I fulfilled these duties for roughly a year underneath a Blue sub-organization, which has since disbanded. As the only other person of the group I know to be alive was abroad during the time of our colleagues’ disappearances, I am led to believe this was a purposeful sweep of the sub-organization. The group, for reasons unbeknownst to me, must have been viewed as a threat. I’ve come to this conclusion due to the mere fact I have strong evidence the Illuminati does not view myself as any threat whatsoever. In fact, I was a patsy.
Monarch Programming is real. Just ask Zurn. I did, and in exchange for his eagerly awaited delivery of prescription drugs he gave me my file. I didn’t learn enough from it. What I did learn was that I knew nothing—not even my name or my age. My last name isn’t really Green—I was given it as homage to Dr. Joseph Mengele, a significant MK-Ultra programmer, who is on occasion referred to as Dr. Green. I wasn’t even twenty-two such as I believed. I was twenty-three. A year of my life lost to programming.
My stepfather put me up to it. He was a politician under Illuminati influence as well and all of his successes came from their involvement. Just as he was next in line to become governor of New York, they dropped him—said he was too old to be the face of the city, so my stepfather became invested in promoting me and my youth to the position he desired for himself. The Illuminati acceded. Although I only remember this experience as weekly therapy sessions “for my parents’ divorce”, after I graduated high school I underwent a year of ruthless programming to become a hyper-determined professional, cool and even sensual when necessary. A polite politician with a one-track mind. The perfect candidate.
I still retain habits from this programming, and up until recently I was still a patsy. In a twist of fate, something much more organic infiltrated my brain during this year’s winter solstice. In a dream it promised me the power to achieve my goals. As at this time I was still under programming and would do anything to obtain my dream, I accepted the offer, and my brain’s previous occupant was pushed out, only to make room for a new one. I now have free will and am entirely conscious of my decisions, but I will admit that, as with any great change, there are unsavory side-effects that I don’t yet fully understand.
Now, to bring things full circle.
I exercised my newly gifted free will through trading intelligence while I continued work as a politician under the Illuminati. All the while I pretended to be my old, patsy self so headquarters would assume I was under my programming as always and thus not think me a threat and dispose of me like my old colleagues. Now it appears that my careers of politician for the Illuminati and intelligence trader for the Shade have collided in the most fortunate of ways—I couldn’t be removed from either and keep my life, so I was removed from both. I am now convinced that the uncharacteristic fear I saw on Geary’s face when she fired me was a result of being threatened by the Shade. It follows that the only way such a dark entity would care to save my life was that it had a personal bond to me. I now realize the Shade and my employer were one in the same, and out of care manipulated fate so that all strings could be cut simultaneously.
I am lucky to even have the opportunity to apply to work amongst the lovely individuals at AEgir. I recognize this is a lot of information to process, but as I’m going through a transition period it only made sense to come clean to those I will be working closely with. I expect those who read this will keep a tight lip to those outside AEgir just as you’d expect me to do my best work despite these trying times.

Thanks for applying! We're a group of roleplayers who find MMORPGs more fun to play when the roles of our characters are more fully developed than a list of numbers to define their survivability and damage. Members of the group will be expected to play and converse in-character (IC) for group activities, using notation such as (( )) around text intended to be out-of-character (OOC) so that it's clearly recognizable. We're seeking players who are mature, low-drama, and interested in character development as well as game progression!
Please take a minute to look over our Rules And Tone page--there's not a lot of rules, but if you're part of the group, you'll be expected to follow the few rules that we've got while you're representing us with the group's handle.
To help us get a feel for who you are and what you'd like to get out of being part of the group, please answer the following questions:
1. How much experience do you have with roleplaying? Have you played other MMORPGs? There's no wrong answer here.
I haven’t! But I’ve been playing/roleplaying in TSW since Beta. (That background of ridiculous proportions is basically a summary of my roleplaying here.)
2. What has brought your character to the group? Do you have any stories/ideas that you hope to develop for them as they progress through the game, and if so, what are they?
OOCly, you guys rock. ICly, Noel was removed from her position in the Illuminati and a position in a PR firm she’s familiar with makes the most sense, as her greatest skill is networking. She’s in an interesting sort of limbo right now with a lot of potential for personal and professional development, especially among other members of AEgir.
3a. Fill in the blank: If my character were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, he/she would probably __________.
Appear unfazed but shakily reach for her pistols.
3b. Fill in the blank: If I were to meet an Eldritch Horror From Beyond Space And Time, I would probably __________.
Appear unfazed but… kidding. I don’t know, probably freeze and then rave to anyone who would listen after I escaped.
4. How did you find out about us, and how would you like for us to contact you in-game?
RFG shows. Preferably an IC interaction as I’ve tried to work Noel applying to AEgir into roleplay. (Maybe Noel could meet with relevant persons and hand over her [this] application IC?)
5. Have you ever wanted a chance to just say whatever you'd like to about yourself to a group of anonymous strangers over the internet? If so, here's your chance!
Well, I do now. And I can’t think of anything. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for applying! We'll get in touch with you as soon as we can.
