AN E-MAIL (Ken)[/b] To: Ken From: Lucy Subject: re: Brainstorm
Didn't we already reject that idea on grounds that the building was still standing? Also, discretely, Tess was worried the CEO would warn her about any surveillance. That doesn't make it sound like they're out to get each other, does it?

From: Colette Marceau To: Carl Weaver Subject: SenTaxx Investigations Monsieur Weaver, I've been keeping track of this case ever since our department began investigating it. I realize I've only been an Investigation Agent of AEgir for a few months, but I feel I'm ready for a high-profile job such as this one. I wish to aid in the Investigation however I can. -Colette ----- From: Carl Weaver To: Teresa Auerbach CC: Colette Marceau Subject: FW: SenTaxx Investigations We may have a volunteer for the next SenTaxx Facility Investigation. Colette has shown promise in the cases she's handled so far, and I've passed on some of the lessons I learned from our predecessor to her. She's also proven to be adept at the "Breaking and Entering" method of obtaining information that you're fond of. She's ready and willing, and I believe she's able to handle this level of work. Shall we brief her on the next SenTaxx facility? -Carl ((Creating a new Lumie alt just to help out in this storyline? Yeah, it's the sort of crazy thing I'd do. I'll create her in-game and give her a proper bio soonly!))

An E-Mail To: Investigations From: Lucy Subject: Re: SenTaxx Facility
Hey, not to show off or anything, but Tyrell got kicked from his raid team last night and spent the whole night playing with the notes you took and what we got from your comm's GPS. First, here's a map of all the SenTaxx facilities. The live ones are in red, the ones they just shut down are blacked out.
He got real industrious and plotted your walk path, and added in the rough trajectories of the other tunnels you guys saw in New Hope, and then just sortakinda extrapolated a bit. So, it's a bit of a leap of faith:
Black lines are closed pipes, red lines are the ones still open as far as we know. Boss, roughly, that point you got turned around and escorted back out? That'd be right at Compass Lake, according to your GPS. Or, you know. About a mile and change underneath it.
Yeah, you made some serious tracks. Sure you weren't on a conveyor belt?

Another E-Mail To: Boss From: Lucy Subject: Medical Check Up
Sure. This about the headaches you mentioned? Dr. Irving on the 18th is supposed to be an expert, but if you want the full hospital experience I could call the Pyramid Helpline.
Fun fact: they're not very helpful. Unless they think you're more worried about keeping a secret than your actual health and safety.

P.S.: Can I make one for Ken, too? His ideas are getting weirder. I think bothering Jenna counts as "mentally disturbed" under the guidelines in the Employee Handbook. The one that she wrote.

From: Megan Pacelli To: Carl Weaver, Teresa Auerbach CC: Lucy Randall Subject: Full Report
Ok now I'm back in the office I figured it was time to make a full report, the scrapyard was owned by a company called J&P Salvage, who officially went bankrupt over 7 years ago at the moment the property is officially owned by New York Community Bank, however it seems no one is in a rush to do anything with the property and for the most time the yards been left to rust.
Someone presumably not the bank have renovated a concrete building in the middle of the yard and turned it into some sort of safe house, between the fact there's hardly anyone living in this area, it's all industrial, the fact there's about a dozen ways in and out of the yard and they have been stealing water and power from there neighbors it's about as off the grid as you can get and still be in the city without living in a dumpster or something equally unpleasant.
Before the fire it seems the place had three rooms, an office, bedroom and bathroom, the latter was the only one spared the fire and given the abundance of feminine hygiene and beauty products I'd think it's a safe bet there was a women living her, sadly the fire completely gutted the office and the bed room leaving little behind, the office computer was little more than a lump of melted plastic and metal and anything in the desk of filing cabinets was ash, the fire was incredibly precise and impossibly hot, the local police are looking for so sort of 'new' accelerate or something to explain it but although I'm hardly an expert I'd say it was clearly the work of a reasonably talented elementalist, the only other thing to survive was the note board with the melted pins in and the scraped of burnt map I mentioned in my preliminary report.
Sadly there was even less of any use in the bed room the place was a cinder with the melted remains of the bed frame and little else, I cant prove this but I've got a feeling something really bad happened here, there wasn't a body just some burnt biological material that the techs say 'might' of been blood 'maybe' but the fire was so complete they cant really tell, there was also a fair amount of damage to one wall caused before the fire most likely by power tools.
Sadly I've been unable to get anything else out of Simple Dan or any of the other transients as their still in the same eery trance like state standing in the corner of a holding cell closest to the Solvall, staring at the wall and creeping the hell out of the cops watching them.
Megan
P.S. with this over I guess I'm free to join in the investigation into these SenTaxx facilities, I not too happy about breaking and entering but I guess given the stuff these guys are into the ends for once justify the means for once, let me know what you want me to do.

From: Colette Marceau To: Teresa Auerbach CC: Carl Weaver Subject: SenTaxx Investigation
Mademoiselle Auerbach,
Monsieur Weaver has briefed me on the new developments of the case and provided information about what to expect in the facilities. I'm fully prepared for this mission. Just tell me where to go, and I'll take care of the rest.
I know this is my first time "playing in the big leagues" as Americans like to say, but don't worry about me. They'll never even know I was there!

From: Carl Weaver To: Teresa Auerbach Subject: Good Luck
I'm sure this goes without saying, but I wish like Hell I could be in on the SenTaxx operations. It's the downside of my notoriety that I can't do undercover or infiltration work anymore. That said, Colette has my full endorsement and she will be an asset to the team.
I'll continue to probe around in Basement C and try to find whatever's hidden down there. I know you keep calling it my "white whale" but what I'm looking for could have a huge impact, both for the company and for Shay.
Good luck with the operations in Florida, and hope you're feeling better soon.
It's a privilege to work alongside you.

To: Boss From: Lucy Subject: These people are crazy and what do I tell them?
Hit the contractor helpline, and got one bite already. With Megan and Colette helping we're up to 3. Got a plan of attack in mind? I'm siding with the detective, here. I'm tempted to say they were so accommodating of you last time just so you couldn't justify violence. Seems like a bit of a waste to just send everyone over for more headaches. I've already got one, and I haven't even left my desk!

A Solicitation (Arcane) To: Arcane Research Department From: Lucy Randall, Investigations Subject: Advice?
Hey, magic-people! Was wondering if you could maybe lend us a hand. We've got a network of facilities that are connected by pipes to make an almost-but-not-quite-perfect pentagram. Said pipes carry an anima-reactive purple goo that gives people headaches and pass out. We'd like to look at it more closely, but that's obviously rather difficult with the eventual loss of consciousness thing going on. Anything I can tell our guys to keep them up and running? Thanks.

To: Lucy Randall From: Teresa Auerbach Re; These people are crazy and what do I tell them? The way I see it, we can wait for an answer from Occult regarding the nature of the buildings, their alignment and purpose, while at the same time sending our field agents in for a closer look to try and get some answers or at the very least some more clues to help Occult decipher this whole mess. Just thinking out loud here, but I honestly don't know how much of a threat SenTaxx is at this point. They're hemorrhaging money and a little surreptitious disruption might entice their board to sell some stock, which would give Ægir the controlling share. I would like to come out of this whole debacle with something to show for it. We still don't know who broke in, or why they stole ODIN. And we have only the vaguest of ideas why SenTaxx even contracted ESI for it in the first place. It's been weeks and I'm tired of goosechasing. Send our agents to the facilities. I agree that we shouldn't go in guns-a-blazing considering how accommodating SenTaxx has been, but they should still exercise caution and prepare for the worst. They should be looking for any hints at what the operation is really up to, or at the very least grabbing some clues of Occult to decipher later. Also, I'd like to start a formal investigation of Jenna Mercado. I know that our case against her is flimsy at best, but she is the best suspect we have for the break in. And at this point I'm far more concerned with a traitor in our midst than a company of Children of the Corn rejects that's on its last legs. ~Tess

((Just curious, how much of the above e-mails does my Character have access to?)) To:Lucy Randall, Investigations From: Beryl Blyde Subject: RE: Advice?
Does the goo only cause the symptoms to anima sensitive individuals or all living things in general? If it only reacts to anima-sensitive individuals, there are many ways to dampen an individuals' anima connection to Gaia to prevent the symptoms of the purple goo.
Secondly the pentagram. I would like to know how the purple goo flows in the pipelines (direction, speed, volume). I'm assuming that all 8 of the lines are connected and flowing in an unbroken circuit at this point. I would also like to know if the purple goo is being fed anywhere at any of the points. Several uses of a giant pentagram could be to amplify the anima sensitivity, within the center, usually for summoning purposes, or thinning dimensional barriers.
If the goo is being fed somewhere at one or all of the points, the goo is most likely being charged by running a pentagram circuit with something charging the goo with the properties mentioned above. There is most likely a high powered artifact or some sort of rift in the center pentagon which is charging the goo as it runs the pentagram circuit, or there could be 5 individual objects in the center corners of the pentagram.
It would also help if I you can figure out what the origins of this pentagram is, as the pentagram has been used by many cultures in many types of arcane magic, from Babylonians, Greeks, Neopagans, Pythagoreans, etc. Also, check if there is a circle enclosing the pentagram, a road, river system, trees, anything that encloses the pentagram, that would change things quite a bit.
Hope this helps, -BB

((Yeah, I'm pretty confused by the email trail as well, tbh. That's part of the reason I'm shy about reading them. Please pardon my spelling/grammar/humanspeak in this post as it's midnight and I can't sleep, effing jury duty.))
From: Juliet Spectre To: Tersesa Auerbach, Carl Weaver Subject: Mila Cameron
I'm going to level with everybody concerned: I'm not sure why the person who knows Ms. Cameron the least was drafted to check up on her. She's gone off-grid, maybe because she is guilty and running from the consequences of her actions, maybe for some other reason.
I've actually gathered quite a dossier on her, however it's difficult to know what's relevant and what isn't. An abbreviated version follows.
Employment History: Cameron possesses the requisite skills to perform any number of acts of sabotage. Insofar as I can tell, her insider knowledge of Aegir, coupled with her known skills, fits the profile of the presumed perpetrator.
Gossip: I don't put much stock in rumors. However, Mila was last seen in Harbaburesti ((sp)). She has claimed she is looking for Tiev Zukovsky. Obviously, I haven't caught up to her to ask why. She is also rumored to be freelancing. Despite her alleged loyalty to Aegir, this does lead me to question whether her loyalties are for sale. Also, has anyone ever wondered why a Russian has the last name "Cameron"? Quite un-Russian, to be frank. Contacts: Her mail hasn't been picked up in quite a while, and her phone is off. Her stock portfolios are diversified, and she recently (March) sold all her Sentaxx stock.
That's all I can gather surreptitiously. If you'd like me to be more direct, of course, I can conduct field interviews or aggressive bugging. I'm fairly certain the sponsors know more about Ms. Cameron, unfortunately, they are unlikely to grant me an audience.
I haven't gotten around to the site visit at the previously mentioned Sentaxx facility. I've been in the field quite a bit recently. If you still need me to check one out, let me know.

To: Tess Auerbach From: Ken Loper Subject: Investigation a go?
I heard a rumor that my investigation is a go. Well, actually, I passed by Lucy in the hall and she looked at me as if I was going to die. You really need to teach your minion to hide her emotions better.
I have a line of interrogation planned out. If all goes according to plan, she'll believe I'm enlisting her help in the investigation of Ms. Cameron. And I'll remain unexploded. For that matter, Ms. Cameron is not yet cleared; maybe I actually will dig up a tidbit that would be useful. Please submit to me any questions that you would like specifically answered and I'll incorporate them.
Ken Loper
P.S. Please be aware that I intend to bash on you and Ms. Rystaad pretty heavily in order to gain some measure of camaraderie. Also Sera, as Ms. Mercado's angst seems directed at security. Please take anything I say, and subsequently record, with a grain of salt. And tell Sera to do so as well. At least Ms. Mercado will leave a STUMP.

[/b] To: Boss From: Lucy Subject: Re: These people are crazy and what do I tell them? Already checking with Occult/Arcane/Research/Those People That Have A Different Listing In Every Directory. I'll forward their reply back to you, but don't ask me to translate it. Briefed our contractor, and he said something about "Hotchkiss models" and "anamorphic architecture". I think he was talking to himself. He might STILL be talking to himself. He was when I hung up on him. Followed up with Haversax in Aq's, who still thinks the CEO's crazy for trying to buy a "toxic asset." Had to write that down. Thought it'd be a cool band name. Anyway, bribed him with some of my Secretary Day Cheetos (thanks, btw. Protip: he's also an addict, but he prefers the extra spicey kind. Probably why he's still single.) He says that SenTaxx is definitely stalling for time past the point of financial survival. His best guess is they're not declaring bankruptcy yet so that the bank won't come in and inspect the pricetag for everything. And/or they just want full access to those remaining buildings for a little while longer. He doubts they can avoid Chapter 11 for more than another week. Under 11, they can avoid Chapter 7 for maybe...two weeks more? He's not sure. We still have no idea where these guys get money from. I'm guessing aliens. Anyway, since the closed-down plant had not-quite-zombie-people and overgrown-and-half-machine-but-STILL-not-quite-zombie people in it, compared to the alive-and-smiling-but-still-creepy people in the active site, I'm leaning towards Syl's theory of mind control. Mind control with SEVERE withdrawal symptoms. I'll get our volunteers oriented and outfitted ASAP. Also, it's funny. After all the noise they made about us losing the first one, they haven't even asked about the second prototype since we announced it was finished. - Lucy
