*~AEgir Security Offices~*
General Layout
The security department is headquartered on the 24th floor of the Solvall, dominating the entirety of the floor. Accessible via the main elevator shaft and the two emergency stairwells in case of fires, the 24th floor is only open to employees with the appropriate security clearance, which is required to request the floor on the elevator, or unlock the doors from the stairs. The ceilings and floors are, behind the slate gray flagstones, reinforced with military grade concrete that has been ritually warded against supernatural intrusion, making it one of the most secure areas in the building.
The elevator opens into a modest lobby of dark gray stone floors and ceilings, and wooden walls coated with navy blue varnish, and is the center point of what is considered the more boring half of the security level. Evenly spaced, recessed lamps keep the area lit to a point that is just above what would be considered comfortably cozy. Potted bonsai sized junipers flank the three openings leading out of the lobby, giving the room a sort of tranquil air.
The three lobby exits all lead to long and broad hallways that matches the stylings of the lobby, minus the plants. Two branch off to the left and right of the elevator. These corridors eventually bend around and behind the side of the building with the elevator shaft, meeting up again on either side of a large break room that doubles as a cafeteria for the building's security staff. Large floor to ceiling one-way windows characterize this space, and offers a breathtaking view of Brooklyn and the surrounding cityscape. Smaller branches split off the main corridor towards the interior of the building, leading to the shared offices, restrooms, and locker rooms of the building's day to day security staff. Hugging the outward facing side of the main hallways and along the perimeter of the building are the offices of the more senior staff, guard captains, and shift heads. These rooms are unevenly shaped, conforming to the contours of the space around them, but possess the same gorgeous views of the city as the break room and roughly the same amount of floor space between them. Miscellaneous storage rooms make up the remainder of the space on the elevator side of the floor.
The third main hallway radiates directly out from the elevator doors. Wider still than the previous corridors, this hallway, with its lack of decoration, often feels eerily similar to those found in film and television. Rumors of hidden automated weapons, laser nets, and trapdoors are popular and rampant, but none of these have ever been verified by any living personnel. The rumors persist, and neither the previous nor current heads of security, or anyone else for that matter, have confirmed or denied these whispers. The main corridor leads directly to the reinforced doors leading into the Security Command and Control Hub, or the Hub for short. A security checkpoint is stationed just outside the Hub. It also cuts off access to the rest of the hallway as it splits off to either side of the Hub, much like the its counterpart of the other side of the building, but this time ending in a large training facility that employees have taken to calling the Warehouse for its bare bones interior on the opposite end of the floor.
Again, smaller corridors branch off from the main arteries encircling the Hub, leading to dozens of smaller rooms that fill the spaces behind the center corridor with the sinister reputation. The rooms on the east wing contain secured storage facilities, including the main armory as well as the offices for staff who have enough clearance to know that AEgir is more than what it seems. The company's tactical response security unit are stationed here. Secured housing facilities for 'special guests' make up the bulk of the west wing, which also contains additional offices, a secondary break room, and restrooms. The premium offices, with their characteristic floor to ceiling windows are reserved for special agents and senior staff.
Security Command and Control Hub - The Hub
The nerve center for all security operations, the Hub is a large space dominated by a large computer console station that doubles for a tactical operations table that monitors AEgir's field agents in real time. A marvel of communications technology with its blue and silver alloy construction, sleek lines, and glass accents, along with futuristic displays and software pioneered by Orochi offer a sleek and tech savvy take on command and control. Three rows of computer terminals with similar designs form a half circle around the table and runs the everyday security workload. These work stations monitor all of the physical security within all AEgir properties, including video and audio surveillance, intrusion countermeasures, and uniformed security detail. The far wall of the Hub is dominated by a dizzying array of television monitors that display the real time feeds of every single camera utilized by the security department. Called the Feed Wall, it covers everything from security footage to spy cameras deployed to watch subjects of interests. Recent times however, have seen a dramatic drop in intracompany snooping, as the current security chief had termed it.
Along the sides of the Hub are restrooms, as well as a small break room stocked with a wide assortment of non-alcoholic drinks. The recently enacted communal snack fund has seen great success, and it is not uncommon to find hot food available to everyone in the break room. A simple gun cabinet near the back of the Hub acts as a fallback armory in cases of emergency. The current Chief of Security makes her office in the Hub's old conference room, which is accessible through a door by the Feed Wall. Another door, on the other side of the Feed Wall, leads to a small express elevator accessible only to directors and above, and goes directly to the highest levels of the Solvall.
All security personnel who work in the Hub are Illuminated agents, though most are unaware of the true scope of the secret world. Most are specialized as communications analysts, but are combat trained, and serve as handlers and liaisons for any special agents or field investigators on top of their more mundane responsibilities. They also compile useful or potentially useful intelligence for review by the Security Chief or directly passed along to the PIT as the situation warrants. Hub staff are wound tight, but are given frequent breaks to blow off steam.
((More to come as I put the ideas on paper. Please let me know if this steps on any other department's toes or doesn't fit to the AEgir theme. :x))
