I work night shift, usually, on the 25th floor (where there isn't a Starbucks). Thank you for the opportunity to work with you on this. I've received your instructions. I'll be ready to start locating the scenes your witnesses and reports indicate. Map's all ready. Once you get the information, I'll start pulling up any handy surveillance and going through the footage. I can totally do that. Meanwhile, I'll start compiling anything you send me into a report. I hope your daylight hours are good. Thank you again. I will do my best to do anything you need me to do. // Jl ps Do you know why there's yellow caution tape across one of the secondary server room doors? It's just that sometimes I think the light from underneath is kind of blue.

Hi Jia, please just call me Anna... your up on the 25th? I have a whole department on the 25th?... no one ever tells me anything... they just banished me to a tiny little closet in the basement and said "here's your office get to work"...
Anyway sent the surveillance footage from our system to a secure server and set you up with access, any footage we need that falls outside the Illuminate surveillance zone around the Labyrinth you'll have to get a hold of yourself though, I'll send you a login I umm 'borrowed' a while back that should get you access to the local traffic camera archive footage but anything else like ATM cameras or private security cams you'll have to hack yourself.
Let me know if you need anything else
ps. we don't talk about server room D... don't go in there it's unhealthy, cant really say any more Mr Martinique said if I discussed it with anyone he'd have to kill them... and he didn't have his happy joking face on at the time... not that I've ever seen him with any expression that could be classed as happy or joking but still...

I don't know about the whole department, do you really work in a closet? It's nice here. Cubicles and stuff, but I can plug in to my music. Which has been helping a lot as I go over the footage. ._. Hours and hours. Memo: I have coffee up here. It comes from the corner store on my block. You can have some?
Footage! I totes got this. Of note: all the people so far have been quiet types. Jeopardy in the afternoon, shut-in, not so much as an afternoon tea with sociables kind of people. Not at all what a junkie's supposed to be, right? ^^; A few of them know each other. I attached clips and files of public record for ID.
About a week before they went toes-up (sad! ;_;), they went hermit-freak. Like, tinfoil hat, pull the blinds, somebody's watching kind of dark.
Not even sure they were at home, it was that dark. Nothing. Zero. Zip on the grid. Not even a pizza delivery, and that's just weird.
Re: server room: right! Got it. No touching. Yes, ma'am.
I'm still going over a lotalotalot of screen, so I'll send anything else, but I think the pattern's pretty clear. So far, while a few of 'em had convos before they melted, most didn't know each other. I mean, I guess there's a certain kind of social interaction between brainy types with common interests? Maybe those interests got 'em put on a map? What map?
I'll keep looking.

ps attached up-to-date reports and associated clips timestamped.
pps I also stock 5 hour energy. Its in my cubicle. Help yourself! =^_^=

I'm not allowed coffee.... apparently I get hyper, and it is a nice closet at least close to the servers and stuff.
Hmm introverted, social awkward and solitary? suddenly worried as that victim profile kinda matches me... also possibly you... and most of the other I.T. guys I bet, maybe I should call Human Resources and get them to send out a safety advisory to the rest of the company or something.
Anyway lets keep checking over the footage, I'm kinda wondering just where these guys got the drug from... as you said not typical party animals, kinda hard to score drugs I'm guessing if you hardly go out and don't speak to anyone much, maybe we should go over there internet usage and I'll see if we can get ahold of any of their computers, also if you want to stretch your legs and get a break from security footage head down to floor 14 and ask Dave really nice if he could pull there phone records for us, could be something there maybe a phone number in common.
PS. oh and fyi while your on floor 14 if you pass the supplies cupboard and you hear a strange knocking from inside... keep walking, very important just keep walking don't look back...

SUBJECT: phone records/internet search
Hi, Anna, or good morning—I think it's morning where you are now right now, I mean not right now (I think you're asleep now) but I mean when you get this and read it it's probably morning and I may still be at my desk so you can always pick up the phone my extension is... Nevermind, I don't have a phone here. Here's my cell: XXX.XXX.XXXX
You don't have to call me, but if you need to for anything, it's fast. Also, good morning!
I ran out of 5 hour energies so maybe that's good. I'm still going over footage. Not much happening outside of the usual. I've found maybe 5 total victims? Can we call them victims? ^^; Seems somehow sadder to call them that. Nicer than "junkies" though. Poor people.
I'm still looking, but I'll spend the evening scoping out their ISPs for anything. That's totes easy. Dave says he'll get the records out to both of us ASAP. He's big. I wasn't expecting that. Did you know he's an amateur bodybuilder in his spare time? Yeah. >.> Ask me how I know. <.< (Don't talk to him about hobbies, also why is his competition photo album sharable on the network?)
I'll cross-reference any similar or correlating numbers from each of the records, but it'll take something more than a jiff. I'll have the results out to you fast as I can.
Also, I heard the knocking, like you said. totally freaky. I'll call it Schrodinger.
I've started piecing together footage from cameras along some of the victims' (¯\(º_o)/¯) routes. Jumping the timestamps, so when it's done collating, I'll send the clip on the network. Dunno where it'll lead. Lot of it is just same old every day mundanity, you know? Take the bus, get food, stop for coffee, go to the store, blah, blah, blah. Still, maybe you'll see something I don't? I'm still getting used to this bee-thing.
I'll have the ISP's emptied out in no time and on your desk. I mean in your server. You know. All yours. Maybe I'll catch some sleep first. Or not. Miss Rystaad said she wanted this stuff fast so I bet Miss... um... Miss... Ohgod, I forgot her name. The one we're reporting to? Bet she's eager.
Okay, I'll keep looking.

I'll bring in some oolong that my neighbor gives me every time she comes back from visiting her folks in China. It's really delicious. What's your favorite tea? I like coffee best, but I like tea too. Actually, I'm not picky. I mean, coffee is my favorite, but hot tea is liek the best thing ever. Except in really hot days, then I like it iced. I just put it in the fridge. As my neighbor says: Gom bui! I think it means cheers, I don't know how to speak Chinese anymore. Why are you still awake? No no wait, dumb questions. Still working, right? (ーー I'll watch out for that computer. I think Mr. Martinique pretty much hates me, so I'll have to find a way to ask about it that doesn't make him mad. SUBJECT: HOLY THEORIES, BATMAN
Anna! Tapped gold. Well, at least something shiny. Got some names for you.
1. Zumair Khumalo: used and rare book seller. His internet searches were pretty normal at first (books, more books) but then his searches suggest the man was having visual issues. Like, migraine auras and hallucinations. He's into do-it-yourself Google doctoring, so lots of searches about hallucinations and what causes them. Then he gets into weird stuff, like how the brain works like a math formula. Seriously intense.
Tended to focus on, like, using math to explain life, the universe and everything.
Had an email from our Door #2, Kirsten Levitt, asking for the book The Hyperpythagorean Hypothesis... a little light reading over lunch. That was pretty early on in the history, though, so I'm thinking it was the launching point for this poor guy.
2. Kirsten Levitt: jumped on her and ding! Last real search turned up a yahoo answers (cause those are always dead on): she wanted to call in an emergency online. Girl was totally freaked, I guess. Her Facebook account's been fnorded, she's the only one with any weird activity there. Prior to a sudden interest in The Hyperpythagorean Hypothesis, looks like she was an average Joe-dette. Shopped on Amazon, checked her email, looks like her taste in fashion leaned more towards stripper club than homey housewife. Not a native New Yorker, either. I don't know what brought out the interest in the Hyperpythagorean Hypothesis, either.
Theory: you're a webcam girl wiggling around for live-chat guys and gals (she's got a defunct website, love-it-live.us, pulling up some cached copies to see if it's what I think it is [[i.e. Fitz will get back to me when he can!]]) and one of your clients says something or shows something on the cam. Maybe it's an accident. Maybe it's in passing. maybe it's deliberate. Point is, you look it up, get a taste of something interesting... boom, marked.
Um, number 3, Thomas Nguyen, dropped off the face of the planet. Nothing to find there except one thing: a thesis, half-finished because I get the sense he might have been a total slacker (liked porn, possible link-up there?), which was called Passing Pythagoras: Modeling Non-Euclidean Angle Function in N Dimensions.
I'm no math wiz, but I Googled the theory this weekend and was able to put some of the pieces together. At least, you know, like what the gist is. This crazy Pythagorean theory is all about using numbers and math to bend space and the human brain.
I think.
Do we have any math geniuses around? Like... quantum physics level of utter geekitude?
Fun fact: #1 and #2 both started having issues after an internet search for the Hyperpythagorean Hypothesis.
Oh, Google. What can't you do?

Uber maths geeks?... well there's me I did take maths at MIT, calculus was required in my freshman year and before for that at Oxford I did do a semester of occult mathematics, sacred numbers arcane geometry all that kinda stuff so I'm fairly good, but uber mega utter geekitude awesome maths gods? hmm sadly drawing a blank there I guess I'll have to talk to someone in HR they would know better what skills people have... even if Ms Mercado scares the living heck out of me...
Anyway good work and keep it up I'll get back to you after I check in on HR... if you don't hear for me again... remember me fondly... so wish I was joking :/

Hey, Anna, I was thinking: what if I'm thinking too movie? Like, what if it isn't the book but the person with the book we should be looking for?
Like, maybe the book is just like a... um, a giant ping that lets the distributor of the drug mark his next victim?
Anyway, going to run a quick infodump on the bookstore [[whose name I forgot because I forget I can't log game text]].
Oh, weird fact of the day? Well, a weird fact, anyway. The guy's livingroom was totally trashed, scrawled on walls, serious creeper factor. Attaching the photos so you can see. But the walls in the bedroom where the laptop was? Totally bare. Why?
