((Lairs are three quests through an open world section full of dungeon mobs. You do three quests to gather all the summon bits, then hoof it to a circle and fight a boss for phat lewtz. Angel did all the questing, so we just have to run there and summon it.))

(( ^_^ You didn't have to spend PAX on it, (though I guess spending time isn't any better) but thank you so much! And thanks Fitz too!))

*Al opens his wallet and watches two flies buzz out, languidly. Then watches as Sera swoops by and steals the flies, to sell at the Auction House.*

It was 6am New York time when Tess got back to her apartment. She felt bad about sneaking out of Sera's place, but she needed some time to herself to process what all had just happened. Revenge didn't quite feel like she thought it would. Tess has expected to feel joy or satisfaction, or at the very least a sense of relief. Instead, all she felt was an overwhelming sense of numbness. Ammie said that this was merely a side effect of her memories being removed form her. How long did she say it would last again? Days? Weeks? Tess wasn't sure if she could wait that long to find out.
"Messy" was her apartment's default state, but lately it had been getting worse than what is generally considered "livable." Dishes, clothing, pizza boxes scattered about. Her "conspiracy wall" in greater disarray than usual. Notes and pictures tacked up in seemingly random order. Tess frowned, she'd have to reorganize soon, she'd been too distracted to work properly lately. Still feeling restless, Tess began to pick up around her apartment. She was moving rearranging things on a table when she knocked a manilla envelope to the floor. She picked it up to examine it and on the outside, written in sharpie, it said "To: Tess, From: Tess" She opened it up, inside was a faded Polaroid photo of a young blonde woman, and a hand written note. Tess began to read the note:
"Hey you. It's me. If you're reading this it means that we were successful in destroying that demon's soul. Congrats! It also means that some of your memories got erased. The picture enclosed is of Stacy Hayden. You will remember her of course, but what you probably won't remember was that she was our first love"
Tess stopped reading for a moment. Of course she remembered Stacy, she was the drummer in her band. She was the one who's stupid idea it was to summon the demon in the first place. But love? No, Tess had never been in love. She continued reading:
"You first met in High School. Your Iron Maiden T-Shirt singled you out as a metal head to her. She approached you during lunch period. You talked, you became friends. Eventually the two of you decided to form a band. Late practices lead to flirting, flirting lead to more. When the time came to apply for college you decided to stay in Seattle so you could stay close to her."
Tess frowned, trying to remember those events. She remembered meeting Stacy, forming the band. But was that why she decided to stay in Seattle? She wasn't sure, it was all so fuzzy.
"When you came out, your dad was so furious. He yelled and screamed. He kicked you out. He said he never wanted to see you again. You said some pretty awful things to him too. You went to Stacy's. She held you as you cried all night. It was after that night you knew that you loved her."
Tess remembered that night of course. It took her years to repair her relationship with her father to something resembling civility. But Stacy wasn't there. Was she? No. Her dad kicked her out and then she... Then she what? Nothing. She strained as she tried to recall what had happened. Nothing. Her dad kicked her out and then nothing.
"On your third anniversary, Stacy gave you a locket with a picture of the two of you inside. You cherished it so much, even though you stopped wearing it when she died. This is what you gave to Ammie to work her spell. The locket and all the memories associated with it were destroyed along with the demon. This is the second time Stacy saved you. She wrote your name in the warding spell the first time you summoned that thing, and now she's gone from your mind, but the demon is destroyed. Ammie said that the events weren't erased from history, just our memory of them. So I'm writing this as a record. You won't feel or remember any of this, but it's important that you at least understand what she used to mean to you. To us. That's it. Ammie has probably prepared the spell by now, and Sera is waiting for us at the Savage Coast. I'm running late. I'm to go slay a demon, put 8 years of our torment to rest. Wish me luck. ~Love, You"
Tess put down the letter. Somewhere she felt that she should be overcome by sadness, but instead she felt nothing. Numbness. She took in this information with all the emotional registry of someone reading a weather report. She wasn't sure if that was still the side effect of Ammie's memory erasing spell or something else. She picked up the Polaroid and examined it for a long time, trying to evoke some emotional response. There was nothing. She looked to the letter and started to read it again.
"The picture enclosed is of Stacy Hayden. You will remember her of course, but what you probably won't remember was that she was our first love..."
