Sooooo my random interwebs wanderings found something interesting, ze Fabled Lands games books free online and in a handy little app that manages all the dice rolls and remembers codewords for you and stuff What are the Fabled Lands you ask? only a strange and confusing part of cores childhood from waaaay back in the mid 90s, basically The Fabled Lands series were a collection of chose your own adventure game ((kinda like Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf)) but instead of being limited to one story you are basically dumped in the world of the Fabled Lands and told to go explore and have fun it's the gamebooks equivalent of The Elder Scrolls with each book expanding on the world by adding a new land to explore, the first in the series was a country just recovering from a civil war the second book the neighboring Kingdom filled with rich merchants and questing Arthurian knights the third was the storm wracked oceans to the south and so on... sadly only the first 6 in a purposed series of 12 ever got published so there will likely always be some areas you cant go to but still if anyone feels in the mood for some retro gamebook action I strongly recommend downloading this ((got for the largest download with the illustrations included)) flapp.sourceforge.net/

true, still that's partly cos I'm only dimly aware of those books, not sure why but they didn't seem to take off in England or if they did they had fallen out of popularity by the time I got into game books, only one I ever remember seeing was in the school library and my god I actually found it on an image search space vampire you were EVIL deserving all the capital letters here, mostly cos I died every 5 seconds this book didn't know the meaning of mercy I tell you lol that or I just sucked at it one or the other
